An LEV – short for Light Electric Vehicle – is a compact, electrically powered means of transport that enables smart and efficient short-distance transportation. Goods, personnel, or visitors? An LEV moves them effortlessly and sustainably.
Thanks to their lightweight design, agility, and zero emissions, light electric vehicles are ideal for urban areas, business parks, and enclosed environments such as ports, hospitals, or holiday resorts. Their compact size reduces traffic congestion and nuisance, making them particularly suitable for use in city centers.
LEVs are increasingly seen as the future of urban mobility. Many entrepreneurs are already investing in them or are seriously considering it. This is not only due to their sustainable advantages but also because an LEV can serve as a striking marketing tool – noticeable, quiet, and recognizably present in the streetscape.
Quiet, efficient, and surprisingly versatile: LEVs offer a future-oriented solution for the logistical challenges of today and tomorrow.

An LEV vehicle offers several advantages.
Spijkstaal LEVs fall within the L7e category: these are heavy quadricycles with electric propulsion. This category is intended for compact vehicles that can transport heavier loads than standard mopeds but do not fall under car regulations.
An L7e vehicle combines the benefits of light and agile transport with additional payload capacity and safety – ideal for professional use in both urban and confined environments.
Our LEVs
For vehicles in the L7e category in the Netherlands, BPM (Tax on Passenger Cars and Motorcycles) is applicable. This is a tax paid upon vehicle registration.
Although electric vehicles are often exempt from BPM, this exemption currently does not apply to L7e vehicles. This means that a one-time BPM levy must be taken into account when purchasing an LEV in this category.
The amount of this tax depends on the type of vehicle and the net catalog price. We are therefore happy to advise you personally on the current regulations and what this means for your situation.
