Custom-made box for the Konecranes TD
They are barely audible, yet they are constantly in motion at the container terminal: the three new Spijkstaal IONA xs vehicles recently delivered to Konecranes. These electric vehicles are deployed at the Maasvlakte and play a crucial role in supporting the technical service on site.
The IONA XS is ideally suited for industrial environments: with a range of 200 kilometers and a top speed of 75 km/h, the vehicle offers the perfect combination of range and speed. However, for deployment at the terminal, the speed is set to 50 km/h, fully adapted to the safety and regulations within the operational area.
For Konecranes, each vehicle was fitted with a custom-designed box interior. While the spacious cabin comes generously equipped as standard, for this specific application, the rear bodywork was modified to include:
Roller doors on three sides for quick access
Adjustable shelves for flexible use of space
Six 220V power outlets for direct charging of small tools
Thanks to the powerful 23 kWh battery, technicians can now work anywhere on site with charged equipment readily available. This ensures they are always ready for action, without relying on external power points or separate batteries.
With this delivery, Spijkstaal and Konecranes underscore their shared commitment to sustainable, efficient, and future-proof logistics solutions. The IONA xs once again proves itself as a versatile partner in business logistics – quiet in operation, grand in performance.
