Custom made box for the Konecranes TD
You hardly hear them, but they are constantly on the move at the container terminal: the three new Spijkstaal IONA xs vehicles recently delivered to Konecranes. These electric vehicles are deployed on the Maasvlakte and play an important role in supporting the technical service on site.
The IONA XS is ideally suited for industrial environments: with a range of 200 kilometers and a top speed of 75 km/h, the vehicle offers the perfect combination of range and speed. For terminal deployment, however, the speed is set at 50 km/h, fully aligned with safety and regulations within the work area.
For Konecranes, each vehicle was fitted with a customized box interior. The spacious cab is already richly equipped as standard, but for this application the rear body was modified with:
Roller doors on three sides for quick access
Adjustable shelves for flexible use of space
Six 220V outlets to charge small tools directly
Thanks to the powerful 23 kWh battery, mechanics can now work anywhere in the field with charged equipment at their fingertips. So they are always ready to go into action, without relying on external power points or loose batteries.
