Custom-Built Box for the Konecranes TD

Completely Customized and Sustainable

They are barely audible, yet they are continuously operating at the container terminal: the three new Spijkstaal IONA xs vehicles recently delivered to Konecranes. These electric vehicles are deployed at Maasvlakte and play a crucial role in supporting the technical service on site.

The IONA XS is exceptionally well-suited for industrial environments: with a range of 200 kilometers and a top speed of 75 km/h, the vehicle offers the perfect combination of autonomy and velocity. However, for deployment at the terminal, the speed is limited to 50 km/h, fully aligned with the safety protocols and regulations within the operational area.

For Maximum Operational Availability

For Konecranes, each vehicle was equipped with a custom-designed box configuration. The spacious cabin is already extensively equipped as standard, but for this specific application, the rear superstructure was modified with:

  • Roller doors on three sides for rapid access

  • Adjustable shelving units for flexible space utilization

  • Six 220V power outlets for direct charging of small tools

Thanks to the powerful 23 kWh battery, technicians can now work anywhere on site with charged equipment readily available. This ensures they are always prepared for action, without relying on external power sources or separate battery packs.

A Strategic Step Towards Efficient Business Logistics

With this delivery, Spijkstaal and Konecranes underscore their joint commitment to sustainable, efficient, and future-proof logistics solutions. The IONA xs once again proves its value as a versatile partner in business logistics – silent in operation, grand in performance.
